The roof at Al Huda Institute is in desperate need of repairs as the building is over 30 years old. We need to replace the roof and ceiling and if we get fully funded, enhance and seal the windows. We’ve dealt with many leaks and other issues in the past which has led to damaged bookstore inventory, leaky classrooms, and water pouring into the masjid. 

The Leaky Roof

The roof is a vital component to any building and without it, what is expected to become of the rest of the building? The roof is in desperate need of repairs as the building is over 30 years old.  The parts of the roof and ceiling that are damaged include stained ceiling panels, holes in the roof where water leaks down, erosion of the rooftop, and general water damage that can cause molding and an unsafe environment. 

This is what happens to our ceilings every time it rains. 

Why it Matters

It's not just a roof for us, it's a shade to protect everyone that comes in and out every day. We have around 3000 visitors that come in and out of our doors throughout the week, and around 400 students in the past year. This doesn't even include the number of online students that benefit from our classes being broadcast online. 

Our full classes and jumu'ahs need a secure roof over their heads.

The Details

The current tar that is covering the roof has patches where it is cracked and the full rooftop needs to be stripped and re-tarred.

It spans 25,000 square ft, and the estimate we've received is $100 000. 

We've gotten all the quotes for the repairs of the roof and all the planning is done, all we need now is the money. We are ready to start repairs as early as July with the help of you all. This is a unique project that only comes once every 30 years, and will help maintain the building for the next 30 years inshallah.

We are calling on the community, the leaders, the masjid attendees, the students, the teachers, social influencers, and anyone looking to earn sadaqa jaariyah - we are calling on you to come together and help us repair the roof! 

Anytime Al Huda has raised money in the past for maintenance projects, the turnaround for completion is VERY quick. We've had projects in the past for new turf, new carpets, new fans, etc, where once we've received the money, we implement it within the next month. 

1000 Promises

Imagine being rewarded for every good thing that happens under this roof: all the salah, du'as, education, all the people who go out and teach other people. And you can get all that reward just for contributing to one section of the roof. 

We've broken down our estimate into 1000 parts. If we get 1000 donations of $100 each, we're good to go. 

But if that's too much, we've broken it down further. 

• $20 will cover 5 sq ft

• $100 will cover 25 sqft

• $400  will cover 100sqft

• $1000 will cover 250sqft
