My name is Qaiser Ahmad, a resident in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. My wife Khadija Ehsan and I have been reaching out to people during the blessed month of Ramadan for donations for our Ramadan Food Packages initiative. Alhamdulillah, this is our 19th year collecting funds; our third time on LaunchGood. 

We would like to raise $10,000 CDN on LaunchGood for this initiative and an additional $25,000 CDN from our traditional way of raising funds (i.e. etransfer)! 

We need your help!

Our initiative is as follows: 

We organize food packages and daigs for the needy and poor in Pakistan so they have an opportunity to eat well prior to and after opening their fasts. Khadija’s family (her mother, in particular) are responsible for organizing and distributing the packages and organizing the setup of daigs in areas where the needy live. We are not an organization and therefore do not issue tax receipts; we are simply volunteers trying our best to serve the poor. 
 

Two options are available to contribute: 

$50 CDN per food package and $75 per daig. The package and daig options are explained below.

$50 Food Package:

• Dates
• Dry Milk
• Tea
• Rice
• Sugar and Spices
• Flour and Besan
• Chick peas
• Vegetable oil/ghee
• Lentils

The food package is enough to feed four people in a family for the full month of Ramadan - both before the fast (suhur) and when breaking the fast (iftar). Alhamdulillah, the supplier in Pakistan only charges the cost price of the items and delivers the food packages free of cost.

$75 Daig:

"Daigs" will be freshly prepared - large pots of cooked chicken pulao/biryani/korma/haleem. The daigs will be set up in areas where the poor and needy live and made available for free at iftar time during the month of Ramadan.  The daigs are prepared/cooked by the poor from the community. The cost per daig is $75.  Each daig feeds approximately 35 - 40 people.
 

Additional Information:

Alhamdulillah, last year (Ramadan 2023), we collected over $30,000 CDN. If you are interested in donating a portion of your Zakat, Fidya, and/or Sadaqah, please consider donating to this initiative. Since we are not an organization, we have no admin costs; even the cost of transferring the money to Pakistan is covered. The only cost incurred is the money exchange rate – which obviously is out of our control.

Please choose a giving level based on whether you would like to contribute a Food Package or a Daig. You can also give a custom amount if you'd like to give more. If not specified, we will distribute the funds to the two options accordingly InshaAllah.
