Cambodia remains today one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia after suffering from a devastating genocide during the Pol Pot regime from 1976 to 1979. Millions still live in poverty and many children lack the opportunity to complete primary education. Emaan International School (EIS) was established in 2019 in Chrak Romiet village, Kampong Tralach District in Kampong Chhnang Province, to bring quality education to the underserved communities.

The Story of Los Novan - one of many others in EIS.

Los Novan’s parents had migrated to work in Thailand early in 2017. His father returned to Cambodia but fell ill and eventually passed away in the same year. Several months after his father’s death, his mother visited Los Novan only for a few hours and abandoned him in the care of his grandmother.

They now live in a small and rickety wooden house in the village and depend on donations from generous people for their daily meals. Novan's grandmother wanted him to attend Emaan International School (EIS) in the hope that it would provide him with a quality education so that he could prepare himself to have a better life.

EIS strives to be a quality and model school in the rural areas. We strongly believe that through education, orphans and disadvantaged children like Los Novan will be able to break the cycle of poverty. With about 25% of the 200 subsidised students being orphans and from needy families, EIS requires assistance from donors and well-wishers to continue to be sustainable.
