Since 1948, Palestinians have suffered from endless war. Until today, news of Palestinians death has been heard.

Currently, the outbreak of Covid-19 has put devastating impacts on Palestinians. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are more than 1,800 Palestinians died meanwhile more than 171,000 people were tested positive as of January 19, 2021.

The World Food Program (WFP) has report that, nearly 1.6 million people in Palestine could not afford nutritious food while women and mothers are the most affected person because they need to sacrifice for the sake of their children.

The reality in Gaza is more worsen. 68.5 percent of the population lives in poverty and facing food insecure. All this thing happens because of various sectors including social services and infrastructure are collapse due to the cumulative impact of sea, land and air blockade for a long time.

Movement restrictions associated with Covid-19 have further complicates their situation. According to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), there are 2.2 million Palestinians need humanitarian assistance to survive while about 500,000 children in Gaza have difficulty accessing to clean drinking water that could give bad affect to them.

In addition, nearly 504,000 children in Palestine have no right to get proper education. It involves 234,000 girls and 9,800 children with disabilities (OKU).

All of these facts surely showed that Palestinians were lived in struggled and hardship life. Therefore, Islamic Relief continuously being proactive providing humanitarian assistance in Palestinian Territories since 1997.

Islamic Relief’s Response

Islamic Relief has been operating in Gaza since 1999 and already helped hundreds of thousands of people in Palestine by providing food aid, clean water access, shelter, orphan sponsorship, community development programs, sustainable livelihood, education, medical, psychosocial and etc.
