About Rescue an Orphan

Rescue an Orphan is a programme of 13 Rivers Trust and Sylhet Aid.  Losing a parent(s) can mean that access to education, protection, shelter, food can become a dream for many. In Bangladesh, 5.8% of the children below 18 years have lost either one or both parents. Almost 4 million children are orphans, with half of them living in extreme poverty. The responsibility of care for the orphan falls on all of us.

Definition of orphan in Islam

An orphan in Islam is defined as a child who has lost his/ her father or both parents.  Our services are designed the help the following groups of young people.

•             Children who lost both parents

•             Children who lost their father

Who could be more deserving of our help than the orphan child!

Rescue an Orphan for £20 a month. Our donation will help an orphan with;

•             A safe place to live

•             Food

•             Medicine

•             Education

Recue an Orphan - long term work

•             Orphans Rescue Centre

•             Orphans livelihood programme - Sponsor £200

•             Orphans Marriage Fund - Sponsor £500

•             Build a house for an Orphans - Sponsor £2,000

Orphans livelihood programme - Sponsor £200

Our livelihood programme is designed to teach practical skills like how to raise livestock, sew, irrigate the land, education and farm crops.  Orphans will learn how to support themselves and generate their own income, equipping them with practical knowledge and trade skills that are essential for their survival in later life.

Orphans Marriage Fund - Sponsor a full orphans wedding for - £500

Marriage is the most beautiful and most blessed act which every young person looks forward to in their life. Islam considers marriage a social obligation that completes half of your deen.  A lot of orphans are unable to get married due to the loss of their parent (s), and being disregarded.

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect (Qur’an 30:21)

Your donation will cover the full wedding costs of an orphan.

Build a house for an Orphan - Sponsor a orphans house for - £2,000

Orphan don’t usually have a home, as they mostly stay in other people’s homes or orphanage.  If they do have a house its usually in disrepair. Help us build a new house for orphans. Foster families will be recruited, trained and vetted to take care of the orphan.
