Rise For Gaza: Restoring Health and Rebuilding Hope

The genocide in Gaza has ended, but the devastation remains. A healthcare system once barely holding on has now been shattered —hospitals overwhelmed, clinics destroyed, and medical supplies scarce. Yet, amid the destruction, we continue to stand with the people of Gaza, working to rebuild what was lost.

Glia has been on the ground since the earliest days of the crisis. When emergency supplies ran out, we 3D-printed and distributed over 2,000 tourniquets to first responders — until our office was damaged in a bombing in October 2023. In January 2024, we began deploying international medical delegations. By February, we had opened a primary healthcare clinic in the middle area of Gaza. That clinic has since expanded into a polyclinic, offering rotating specialty services (such as maternal health, ENT services, and nutrition support) and treats roughly 600 patients weekly.

Now, we need your help to do more.

Your support will allow us to:
✅ Continue sending medical delegations to provide staffing support to Gaza's hospitals and train local doctors.
✅ Sustain and expand our polyclinic in Al-Zuwaida, ensuring ongoing medical care for those in need.
✅ Establish a second polyclinic in North Gaza, bringing essential healthcare to a severely underserved area.
✅ Restore our 3D printing operations — miraculously, our printers survived Israel's attacks — so we can begin producing upper limb prosthetics, walkers, and canes for those who have lost so much.

This is not just about rebuilding infrastructure; it’s about restoring dignity, mobility, and hope. The people of Gaza deserve a future where healthcare is accessible, and no one is left to suffer without treatment.

Your donation will help to save lives and rebuild a sustainable healthcare system in Gaza. Stand with us. Rise for Gaza.

Donate now. Together, we can restore health and rebuild hope.

The Gaza Field Clinic

We have been operating a field clinic in Al-Zuwaida since February 2024. It is registered with the Ministry of Health and is part of the World Health Organization's emergency medical services in Gaza.

Our clinic is staffed by 13 local healthcare workers and 9 support staff who provide free health services to any Palestinian seeking care. The clinic offers emergency support, primary health care, prescription and over-the-counter medicine, vaccinations, and specialized care relating to sexual reproductive health, mental health, and Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT). It is open 6 days a week. Our staff has been proud to serve Palestinians throughout the genocide, and are prepared to pivot its services to meet the changing needs of the local population.

Medical Delegations

Since early 2024, Glia has sent in teams of international healthcare workers as part of the World Health Organization's Emergency Medical Team initiative. We have deployed 18 teams, with dozens of medics specializing in OB/GYN, midwifery, neonatology, emergency & trauma surgery, and internal medicine.

Prosthetics & Rehabilitation

Prosthetic hand prototype, Ethiopia, April 2024

Glia is reviving its 3D-printed prosthetics initiative in Gaza to support those who have lost limbs in the ongoing war. We will also build mobility aids, such as walkers and crutches, two items that are unable to pass through the Israeli-led blockade. Our printers survived the attacks, but we urgently need raw materials and reliable power to begin production.

We will be drawing heavily from our most recent experience printing functional prosthetics for agricultural workers in Ethiopia and our support of similar efforts in Guatemala and Honduras. Now, with thousands in Gaza in need of prosthetic care, it’s time to bring this work home.

Glia's long history of supporting Gaza

As soon as war broke out in October 2023, Glia responded immediately to the limited availability of essential medical supplies, such as tourniquets. Our office in Gaza manufactured and distributed over 1500 tourniquets before our office was destroyed in a bombing. Our team in Gaza was unhurt, and they continue to work in varying capacities within the healthcare sector. Our Medical Director, Dr. Mohammad Al-Attar, worked in the Al Shifa Emergency Room until it was destroyed by the Israeli army and is now running a field hospital; our administrator, Hanan Abu Qassem, volunteered with ambulatory care, and is now overseeing the construction of mobile medical points.

Together with Islamic Relief Canada, Glia launched #PPE4Gaza in December 2019 to make and distribute personal protective equipment for healthcare workers in Gaza. Through the generosity of donors like you, we raised over $100,000, allowing us to respond almost immediately to the Ministry of Health’s need for PPE by 3D printing and distributing thousands of face shields. With the help of Medical Aid for Palestinians UK, we successfully shipped 3D printers and reusable respirators to Gaza so we could continue the work and increase local capacity.

In response to the bombardment of Gaza in 2021, Glia partnered with the International Development Relief Foundation to launch the Open Gaza Initiative, which will train and deploy engineers to refurbish and repair existing hospital medical equipment using cutting edge technology, such as 3D printing, local printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing, and use of desktop-scale CNC machines.

Two members of Glia, Drs. Benjamin Thomson and Tarek Loubani were also involved in EmpowerGAZA, a project that placed solar panels and batteries on four major hospitals in Gaza, providing uninterrupted power.

Our record shows that Glia’s team is committed to the health of all of those in need around the world and in Gaza.

*Glia will do its best to use your donation for the primary objectives of this campaign, however given the volatility of the situation in Gaza, we may direct it to where it is needed most.
