We have been working with Rohingya refugees in Malaysia since 2014 and been receiving numerous requests from them to help their families in Bangladesh. Sheikh Ali Ahmed and team will be visiting Tumburu camp near the Gundum border in Bangladesh in 2018 In shaa Allah.
Al-Nawawi is embarking on this journey to fundraise RM250,000 (USD 61,300) to support 1400 refugees with amenities which include:
Building water pumps
With the media hype dying down, so is the assistance these refugees are receiving. Our efforts aim to allay some of their ongoing ordeal.
The following primary research on the Rohingya describes grueling details on the crisis: http://xchange.org/reports/TheRohingyaSurvey2017.html
The conflict that spurred the current crisis has resulted in violent clashes in the past. The recent surge however, caused the largest exodus of Rohingya refugees in decades. Currently, there is close to 1 million refugees in Bangladesh- around 70% of them arriving since August 25th 2017.
The influx has exhausted supplies, overwhelmed aid workers and pushed existing refugee camps towards a breaking point. The lack of hygiene and amenities mean disease outbreaks are a looming prospects.
Sheikh Ali Ahmed and the students of Al-Nawawi Institute have been involved with the plight of the Rohingya Refugees since 2014 here in Malaysia. He has personally overseen distribution of humanitarian aid packages such as:
Unite and join us in this constructive effort to alleviate the plight of our prosecuted brothers and sisters!
The Prophet (SAW) said:
"Whoever removes a hardship from a Muslim brother then Allah will remove a hardship from him on the Day of Judgement."
(Sahih Muslim)
May Allah put ease in our affairs and enable us to enable others for His sake.
