At Rumi Montessori, this vision is at the very center of what they do. Born from a deep-rooted desire to serve and support the natural development of the child - through establishing a holistic education model based on Prophetic teachings and Montessori pedagogy to serve the needs of all children.

The demand for quality Islamic education within an authentic Montessori setting has skyrocketed as parents across the world look to cultivate the next generation of well-rounded believers, steadfast in their deen, who will grow to unify and serve our ummah in the future.

Rumi Montessori School opened its doors in Seremban, Malaysia, in 2018, providing a much-needed sanctuary for young Muslim children. Over the past six years, Rumi has welcomed close to 150 students and continues to serve families from across Malaysia and beyond. 
 

Due to huge demand, Rumi Montessori announced the establishment of a second premises. Located in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Rumi Montessori KL is expected to open its doors to students in late spring 2024.

We, the parents of Rumi KL, are fundraising to support our school’s goals in providing a quality education and environment for our children. This is a beautiful opportunity to establish a lasting legacy for the next generation of young Muslims. Your contributions of sadaqah jaariyah will, insh’Allah, enable us to raise the next generation of leaders.

About Rumi Montessori School…

Rumi Montessori School (Seremban) opened its doors to students in 2018, catering for ages 3-6. As demand grew, the school expanded to accommodate children ages 6-12.

Rumi Montessori models a unique holistic prophetic educational environment that fosters leadership and character-building, companionship, and service. 

Every inch of the purpose-built Montessori classrooms is carefully curated with the utmost Ihsaan, providing the optimal setting for young children to gain independence, and learn and perfect valuable life skills. Rumi Montessori’s curriculum includes Arabic, Quran study and Islamic studies as part of the children’s complete learning journey.

Rumi Montessori is the vision of Nusaibah Macadam; a former Montessori child with more than 20 years of experience in Montessori education and training. She is Montessori trained for ages 0-18, holds a Masters Degree in Montessori education and is currently working on a PhD on Islam and Montessori education.

Having moved to Malaysia a decade ago from the UK, Nusaibah had a deep-rooted desire to establish an authentic Montessori school that found roots in Prophetic teachings to serve families in search of a holistic approach to education. 

In addition to running the school, Nusaibah provides a variety of Montessori training courses and consultancy for Montessori teachers, schools and home educators all over the world. 

As a mother of an autistic son, she has a special interest in children with Special Educational Needs and is continuously exploring how Montessori can serve neurodivergent children.

What is Montessori? How does it work with Islam?

The Montessori method is a child-centered approach to education that has been implemented internationally for more than a century and has been identified as one of the most successful, tried and tested holistic teaching methods used today.

Children are taught at their own pace and supported to actualise their potential through attentive observations by a skilled Montessori teacher and the use of a carefully prepared environment. 

This comprehensive approach not only promotes academic excellence, but also takes a holistic approach to developing the whole child.

The principles of the Montessori method are Prophetic in spirit and so align harmoniously with the Islamic pedagogy to create a unique educational model. Through this model we have the opportunity to support the natural unfolding of the child into a fully functioning human being (insan-al-kamil), who embodies a strong belief in Allah and is able to fulfill their life's purpose. 

There is a huge demand for quality education…

Since opening its doors, Rumi Montessori (Seremban) has been unable to accommodate the sheer number of applicants from across Malaysia and globally. Many families eager to enroll their children have relocated from other cities in Malaysia to be closer to the school, while others continuously request additional campuses in more cities.

The centralized location of the second campus in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur has proven to be extremely popular amongst many families, both local and expatriate, who are in search of an authentic Islamic Montessori setting for their children.

A bit about the fundraiser…

We, the families of Rumi Montessori KL, have initiated this fundraiser to support our schools’ renovation and program goals.  A defining aspect of Rumi Montessori is its non-profit ethos. Our school aims to make quality education accessible, maintaining low tuition rates while ensuring surplus funds enhance our school's environment and offerings.

In January 2024, critical renovation work commenced on the new school campus. The building encompasses space for a large gathering hall, two multi-purpose classrooms, two open plan spaces to house a Montessori preschool and elementary space, an office, a kitchen, wudu facilities, an outdoor patio and other amenities. 

The beautiful space is designed with an open concept environment for the children, surrounded by nature. Each part of the renovation is inspired by art and architecture from the Muslim world.

Due to Rumi’s not-for-profit ethos, almost the entirety of this huge renovation project has been a self-funded initiative.

Our fundraising efforts will enable us to provide Rumi with the funds to provide an even more optimal home-from-home learning environment.

Small amenities such as air conditioning, an extensive library space, high-quality playground equipment, or a mini fruit and vegetable plot - can make all the difference in our children’s learning journey and days at Rumi.

A huge part of the Rumi ethos is building a sense of community for Rumi families. We aim to do this through workshops, events, and facilitating opportunities for connection and bonding between families. Thereby creating a little “village” to surround our children with like minded individuals, all striving on the same path to Jannah.

As parents we are extending the initiative to our communities; a chance to give generously for such a noble cause, a sadaqah jaariyah, to give children from all backgrounds the ultimate learning space filled with peace, love, and enjoyment of learning.
