Run for Palestine (RFP) is a family-oriented, fun-filled event held across Canada that welcomes everyone in the community. 

Participants can choose to walk 1 km or run 5 km to raise funds for essential humanitarian projects supporting the Palestinian people.

Our Run has expanded and is now hosted in Toronto, Calgary, London, Ottawa, Vancouver, Fort McMurray, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.

This year, Run for Palestine National is partnering with Islamic Relief Canada to provide emergency food and health services in the Gaza Strip. We need your support to respond to the urgent needs of people affected by ongoing escalations in Gaza, focusing on health, food, and non-food items (NFIs). This project will be implemented via four local partners: Beit Lahia Development Association, Gaza Culture and Development Group, Unlimited Friends Association for Social Development, and Bayader for Environment and Development Association.

Health: Provide essential and urgently needed medical items for trauma and emergency non-trauma, including medical drugs and disposables, to six hospitals in the Gaza Strip for immediate use.

Food/Nutrition Assistance: Distribute food packages, food vouchers, ready-to-eat meals, fresh vegetables, and clean water to households in need.

NFIs: Supply bedding kits, hygiene kits, clothing, kitchen sets, psychosocial support (PSS), shelter cleaning services, and wash facilities to support families taking refuge in designated shelter points and other safe areas within the Gaza Strip.

Currently over 1.3 million people are in need of humanitarian aid in Gaza with 95% of the population without access to clean water.

How is Islamic Relief delivering aid across Gaza?

Islamic Relief has been on the ground, operating in Palestine since 1997. Our staff in Gaza are using your donations to locally procure food, hygiene supplies, bedding, and any other essential item we can source. They screen and contract local suppliers and partners, who procure either locally or through private trading routes.

Islamic Relief has successfully facilitated aid trucks entering Gaza through various border crossings, which has helped to alleviate some of the pressure on the ground. We have implemented thorough risk assessments, established communication with stakeholders, and devised contingency plans to address unexpected issues promptly.

Working alongside local partners and the World Food Programme, we are presently active in the Middle Area including Deir Al Balah, Zawayda, and Al Nusairat, as well Khan Younis, Rafah, and North Gaza. 

From October 7 to July 3, 2024, our team has so far distributed: 

• 2.2 million medical supply items
• 25 million ready-to-eat meals
• 14,520 food packs
• 4,245 food vouchers
• Fresh produce to 222,371 households
• 35,037 blankets and mattresses
• 7.8 million people received clean water
• 60,738 hygiene kits + items to 434 shelters
• 82,642 children received psychosocial support
• Health services to 5,750 individuals
