Introduction

In rural Cambodia, access to clean and safe drinking water remains a critical challenge. While some areas have water delivery services that supply local shops, continuously buying water is an expense that many impoverished families simply cannot sustain. As of 2022, approximately 29% of Cambodia's population had access to safely managed drinking water services. This indicates that about 71% of the population still lacked access to safely managed drinking water. While there have been improvements over the years, a significant portion of the rural population continues to rely on unimproved water sources, underscoring the need for ongoing efforts to enhance water quality and accessibility in these regions. By funding sustainable clean water solutions, we can provide families with a long-term, affordable alternative—ensuring health, dignity, and a brighter future.

Why We Choose Concrete Wells?

Concrete wells offer a more sustainable and long-term solution compared to other methods of water collection. While handpumps are initially cheaper, they require frequent maintenance and often have shorter lifespans due to wear and misuse. In contrast, concrete wells are significantly more durable, providing a consistent and safe water supply for many years. Designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, they are also less prone to contamination, ensuring clean and safe water for the community. By investing in concrete wells, we prioritize the health, safety, and long-term needs of the people we serve, offering a reliable solution that stands the test of time.

Since 2016, we've successfully built nearly 300 concrete wells in Tboung Khmum, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Thom, and Kratie provinces, providing clean water to thousands of families. Already 5 units of well were built in January 2025 and we are looking forward to built more. Our goal is to construct at least 50 more wells, bringing safe water to even more communities in need.

Our ground volunteer, Mr. Sleh Hanfey will assist us in locating the suitable location and sourcing the materials and manpower to make it happen.

Each well can support up to 10 families in the immediate area. Hence the availability of each well is greatly beneficial. In addition to this, the construction also will be done in accordance to the UN's safe water requirement.
