Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are overjoyed to share with you today that Amoud Foundation has completed the construction of 3 of the 7 wells! Just a few months ago, we all came together to support this sadaqa jariya in honor of our late mother, Khairia Soleman, who passed away on March 23. Our hearts are still grieving over her loss, but we found tremendous contentment and peace today when we heard from Amoud Foundation that these wells have been completed and are now benefiting people and livestock of the villages in which they were built. Please take a look at the pictures below that Amoud Foundation has provided us with. May God accept this from you all and accept it as sadaqa jariya for our mother. Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we look forward to sharing the next update with you soon, insha Allah (God-willing)!

We are so grateful we were able to fund the campaign successfully, purchasing 7 wells, food for Amoud Foundation's Feed the Needy in Ramadan program, a water truck and educational program supports. Dear Supporters & Friends, 

Asalamu Alaikum (Peace Be Upon You),

It’s been just over 2 weeks since our dear mother passed away and we initiated this sadaqah jariyah campaign in her name. It began as a modest collection amongst our siblings to purchase a single well in her name. It quickly turned into a public outpouring of love, support, and donations from friends and strangers across the globe.

Two weeks, $23k, and 276 supporters later, we’ve raised enough for six wells to be built through the Amoud Foundation. We have already purchased five of the wells with the money raised so far, Alhamdulilah. At this point, we feel compelled to push the goal one last time to reach $25k, an amount that will allow for the building of seven wells. We are drawn to the idea of a symbolic legacy that our mother would leave behind 7 children along with 7 wells.

The wells will be built in villages in Somalia and will read “Donated on behalf of Khairia Soleman”. In choosing the type of wells to be built, we decided to go with entirely manual wells. Villagers will use bucket and rope to extract water. The alternative was faucet-wells powered by generators. While this would have been convenient especially for villages that need water for livestock, it also entailed the maintenance and repairs that modern conveniences call for. We were concerned that maintenance and repairs would ultimately prove to be a burden on villagers as any breakdown in equipment would require money and parts. We were advised by Amoud Foundation that our concerns were valid as they do not follow up on maintenance of the wells and simply hand over management to the villagers once the wells are completed. This decision proved to have barakah in it since the manual wells cost less than the wells operated by a generator. Less cost meant we could buy more wells and impact more villages and reach more people in need, Alhamdulilah.

We thank you from the very bottom of our 7 hearts. We pray that Allah accepts your donation as sadaqah jariyah for our mother as well as for you. He is the most generous and the most merciful.

Dear Donors,

With your support, my family and I today provided the first set of funds to Amoud Foundation for the construction of 5 standard wells in impoverished regions. We did this on behalf of our dear mother who passed away just one week ago and we ask God to accept it as sadaqa jariya (ongoing charity) for her. 

We're told the wells take about 3-6 months to construct (it may take longer due to the current COVID-19 situation). We should receive pictures of the wells when they are completed, and when we do insha Allah (God-willing), we will be sure to share those with you as well! 

Millions of families have to walk hours and sometimes even days in order to get just a few cups of drinking water. One new water well can sustain the population of an entire village. In addition, a local water supply enables young girls to spend their time in school rather than walking several miles to collect water for their families. We are so excited to be a part of this effort to provide drinking water to those living in impoverished regions and we pray it benefits thousands of people for years to come.

On behalf of our beloved mother, Khairia Soleman, we would like to deeply thank you for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Losing our mother has been absolutely heart wrenching, and yet, through Allah’s mercy and grace, we take comfort in knowing how much our beautiful mother was loved by all those who crossed paths with her. She has left behind a legacy firmly rooted in the highest caliber of character and kindness, and through her kindness, she has inspired and touched the lives of so many. In less than 24 hours, this campaign has surpassed its initial goal and continues to grow through your generous support. Your donations have ensured that her legacy will live on as Sadaqah Jariya, providing security to those living in impoverished regions who suffer from a lack of water, famine, and food shortages. Through your support, the building of water wells will provide impacted families living in the most vulnerable areas of the world the ability to sustain their living and basic water supplies. We can think of no better way to honor our mother, and we thank you for your generosity and continued support.
