Dr. Elsayed Mogahed had a serious heart condition and lived for years on a heart working at only 1/3 of a normal capacity. Despite this and other health challenges, he taught hundreds of students as a professor of engineering, served his community as a volunteer Sunday School principal for 30 years, volunteered as a math tutor for children in need, and so much more. He served his family every day of his life. How was this possible on 1/3 a heart? He had the biggest heart in the world. And so this sadaqa jariya is the perfect gift in his memory. He raised three daughters, Yasmin, Mona and Dalia. He is missed dearly by them as well as the rest of his friends and family.

This sadaqa jariyah project will support building a state of the art cardiac hospital offering free services to those in need in Egypt, founded by world renowned British-Egyptian Cardiac surgeon Dr. Magdi Yacoub through this U.S. based 501c3 registered charity.  All contributions are tax deductible. A “Sadaqa Jariya” is a perpetual charity--a gift that keeps benefiting people over time.  Examples of Sadaqa Jariya include planting a tree, whose fruits will feed people for generations, or digging a well that provides water for decades.  In our father’s case it is building a hospital which will provide critical cardiac care free of charge for years to come.

The Messenger of God ‎ﷺ said:

"When a person dies, all their good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who will pray for them.” Narrated by Muslim (1631).
