Our dear beloved mother Nazma Khanom returned to our Creator on 14/02/2024.

Our mum was our world, she was the purest and kindest soul, the heart of our family, the most caring, innocent, selfless person we knew. 
Our world came crashing down when mum was diagnosed with colon cancer almost 3.5 years ago. 
She had undertaken a series of cycles of chemotherapy along with radiotherapy to contain the spread of the cancer.

Despite her triumphant battle against it, we believe in Allah’s decree on calling his slaves at their prescribed time.

Her calling was such that Allah invited her to perform Umrah just over a month before her passing.

Our mum was an extremely charitable person, donating to every cause that came her way. She loved spending on her family and didn’t let any opportunity to help others pass. 

In memory of our dear beloved mother, we aim to fundraise for a masjid, with the intention of Sadaqah-e-Jaariyah for her.

Introduction to the project

The Masjid holds a central role in the heart of a community, from a spirituality place of sanctuary to an educational institutional. As per the Prophetic tradition, Muslim Charity has been assisting impoverished communities to build a centre of religious learning for the future generations and has empowered the locals to strengthen their relationship with their faith. As well as supporting communities Muslim Charity has been supporting institutions, which lack a place of worship.

Jinja District

Jinja District is a district in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The town of Jinja is the district's main municipal and commercial centre. Jinja District is bordered by Kamuli District to the north, Luuka District to the east, Mayuge District to the south-east, Buvuma District to the south, Buikwe District to the west, and Kayunga District to the north-west. The district headquarters at Buwenge are located 96 kilometres (60 mi), by road, east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.

The journey to realizing this vision is filled with challenges, most notably the financial constraints that come with such a noble endeavor. With an estimated cost of £10,000 to construct the Masjid and additional funds needed for supplementary projects, your contribution can make a significant difference. 

Here’s how you can help:

£10,000 for Masjid Construction: 
Enable us to build a sanctuary that accommodates 150 worshippers and includes all necessary amenities for the community.

£2,000 for an Imam’s Residential House: 
Support the heart of our community by providing a home for our Imam, facilitating his dedication to nurturing the spiritual and educational needs of Irera - Jinja District.
The communities we serve are typically located in remote settings. Acquiring a suitable Imam as well as retaining the Imam over a long period always poses many challenges. Imam’s typically travel a few kilometres every day so they can serve the community. Building a residential home for the nominated Imam adjacent to the Masjid, will not only support the community in retaining the Imam, but will also help the Imam invest more of his time and energy nurturing the religious needs of the community. 

£1,500 for Business Start-up for the Imam: 
Empower our Imam with financial independence through a sustainable business model, ensuring his undivided focus on the community's spiritual growth.
In order for the Imam to invest his energy in the Masjid it is paramount that the financial needs of the Imam’s are managed. The communities we support have very limited financial resources, so at times even with the best of community intentions the financial needs of the Imam are not met, as they themselves are struggling to support their family. This financial grant will assist us to financially provide the Imam with a stable income. Based on the skill set of the Imam we shall invest in a business model where the Imam can earn his livelihood in a dignified manner, independent of financial aid from the community. This will give the Imam financial freedom without the need of depending upon financial assistance from the community. Investing in the Imam means investing in the long term religious needs of the community.

£2,000 for Water Well or Water Storage Tank: 
Gift the community with the essential resource of clean water, a basic necessity that remains a challenge in Irera - Jinja District.
The community depend either on rain water or travel approximately 2 kilometres to the nearest water source to collect water. You can sponsor a water well for £2,000 to support the community with a clean water solution within the heart of the community

£50 for Food Packs: 
Offer a lifeline to vulnerable households with a month's supply of food, addressing immediate nutritional needs and fostering community well-being.
