This Black History Month, Save America's Islamic Heritage Museum
America's Islamic Heritage Museum (AIHM) has lost its home. A home that captured a piece of America’s history beginning from the 1300’s until today. It held a collection of stories, narratives, and artifacts showcasing Muslims In America. It brought people together from around the world to learn about the contributions of our ancestors and the impact they had on American culture.
In October 2020, the Museum sadly had to close its doors. The building was bought out and will be demolished, forcing our history to be moved to a storage unit. The existence of the museum is vital and desperately needs your help to keep our history alive. The evidence and preservation of our memories are at stake.
Not only was AIHM a museum, but it was also a space that served the Washington DC community and beyond. Community programs were held inside the museum and outside in the spacious parking lot that fed those in need, provided hygiene kits, after-school snacks and so much more. AIHM also hosted interfaith programs, taking guests on a journey around the American Muslim world.
