The situation in Sudan is currently marked by immense challenges, and the people there are in urgent need of our support. The country has plunged into a humanitarian crisis, with more than 1,800 people killed, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, and at least 1.6 million displaced within the country or across its borders, the United Nations has said, with many fleeing to Egypt, Chad and South Sudan. 

MedGlobal's response

The growing number of people in need and in stasis at the border is creating a potential health crisis. MedGlobal is well-equipped to address the urgent needs in Wadi Halfa, specializing in health, nutrition, and WASH. Our experienced in-house health experts are guiding the project and providing technical support. We plan to expand primary health services in Wadi Halfa and deliver mobile health services to mobile populations.  Our team of Sudanese doctors have started medical activities in Wadi Halfa in mid-June. Our volunteers act swiftly to mitigate the impending health crisis. MedGlobal aims to establish a health center in Wadi Halfa to serve Sudanese IDPs and host communities. Additionally, a mobile medical team will be deployed in Argeen to provide services to displaced persons awaiting entry into Egypt. 

Our work in Sudan is saving lives

Even prior to the ongoing conflict, an alarming 15.9 million people in Sudan required immediate humanitarian assistance. The country is now home to approximately 950,000 refugees and 3.5 million internally displaced individuals, with their numbers increasing every day. Countless Sudanese individuals are currently grappling with the challenge of survival, struggling to access basic necessities such as food, clean water, and crucial medical care. If swift action is not taken, this situation is poised to deteriorate even further.

MedGlobal has staff on the ground in Khartoum as well as teams at the border crossings assisting those fleeing and needing medical attention or support.
