Support fund for our beloved brother Hicham Bounni Wadsworth

Assalamu alaikum

Our dear brother and friend ustad Hicham has been afflicted with a huge test. He has been diagnosed with level 3-4 stomach cancer. Few weeks ago he buried his beloved mother Allah yerhama in Agadir Morocco, he returned to the UK and then his condition worsened. For some months now he has not been able to work running his incredible Al-Qarawiyeen Learning which has touched the hearts and souls of many of us over the years. It is a very testing time for the family as first Hisham will start his intense chemotherapy treatment this week for some weeks, this will no doubt drain him so much. The hope is inshallah they will not have to cut out some of his stomach and the chemo will do the job.

All this heavy radiation may not allow our dear brother to have any type of near to normal life for a very long time if Allah wills. After all this they may end up removing some of his stomach which would require enormous surgery, and then after all this, there is no guarantee that all the cancer visible to all the instruments will be removed and not return. Ya rabb.

Also at present he is being peg fed directly into his stomach and cannot swallow anything down his esophagus. I have had the blessing to be intouch with him and visit him although not often enough. I will mostly share this message to all those who know Hicham, he is certainly one of the most wonderful people I ever met and have been so lucky to have known him for last 20 years or so. Indeed Allah tests all those he loves. Please share this message/campaign to anyone who may have known Hicham, jazakallahu khair.

An individual who knows him has given £500 of zakat money straight away, may Allah bless him. 

Sitting down and going through the immediate and long-term financial impact, those of you who know this brother, then you know we cannot put a price on his love, brotherhood and sacrifices for others. Even though Hicham is shy to ask and depends solely on Allah, he is deeply concerned for the immediate and long-term welfare of his family including his only son Abdallah aged 11 who he has high hopes for. He loves his son so much and will sacrifice to be there for him, for him to be the best and carry on ever-better his father's selfless legacy with the knowledge and service for the deen and people inshallah, ameen. May Allah give all the family beautiful patience.

He appreciates personally every bit of contribution we can make. Some of you may wish to contribute a larger amount initially, others may want to give a smaller amount to begin with the hope that by the miracle of Allah the chemotherapy will do the job. I know this is a test for all of us, Allah chose someone one from among us, it could be any of us in this situation right now.

So, I think this first stage of support we should aim for is £20,000

As this will bring ease financially to our brother and his family with the hope that ya rabb, we will not need to do any further campaigns in the future. But please I say this to myself and you all aswell, its the weeping in qiyaam in praying for our brother in his absence which is priceless and we need to do both.

Hicham taught at islamic institutes and colleges in UK, aswell as advanced specialised tutoring in many subjects including: Arabic Grammar and Language, Quranic Studies and Translation. Arabic Literature, Fiqh, Al-Mantiq, Critical Thinking and Arabic Calligraphy. Arabic, Islamic Studies.

He begins treatment at Christies in Manchester today on Monday 30th January 2023. The hospital staff have been amazing, may Allah bless them.
