Problem Statement

The problem of out-of-school children in Indonesia is still a big deal. There are 1.6 million kids of junior high school age who aren't in school. According to BPS, 76% of families can't afford to send their kids to school because of money issues, like 67% who can't pay school fees and 87% of kids who have to work to help their families. Education is a right for all children, including orphans, but money issues keep them from going to school, like not being able to buy books or pay fees.

Losing their parents is certainly a nightmare for them, but do they also have to lose their dreams?

That is one of the many stories of orphans that we need to appreciate for their persistence. Meanwhile, in Indonesia there are more than 4 million orphans who need support. 

Alhamdulillah, for several years we have been committed and consistent in providing support to more than 300 Filantra-assisted orphans spread across various regions in Indonesia.

Every month, Filantra provides educational scholarship assistance and coaching for the orphans it fosters. They are greatly helped by this program, one of them is Maher. The assistance he gets is used for his school needs, so he no longer needs to ask his mother if there is something needed related to his education. Maher, who likes soccer, has also won several competitions. He saves the prize from the competition to fulfill other needs.

Every child deserves the chance to learn and grow, but many orphans and underprivileged children struggle to afford school fees, supplies, and even daily meals. Without our help, their dreams of a better future remain out of reach.
