Sudan's ongoing war has devastated the healthcare system, leaving hospitals in Port Sudan struggling to meet the overwhelming needs of thousands of displaced people, who fled to the country seeking safety and medical care. In this context, the Sudanese American Medical Association has launched the Dr. Isam Osman Humanitarian Mission, honoring Dr. Isam Osman, a dedicated vascular surgeon who embodied the spirit of compassion and humanitarian service.

These missions bring healthcare professionals from the United States to Sudan, who deliver life-saving medications and medical supplies, and train local healthcare professionals to provide better medical care to their patients.

We are urgently raising funds to support four missions to Port Sudan, the most recent mission is scheduled from October 28 to November 4.

How Your Donation Will Help

1. Fund the delivery of medication and medical supplies
2. Transportation of the doctor from the United States to Sudan
3. Maintenance of medical equipment in the public hospitals in Port Sudan 

What we have already done?

Anesthesiology Mission:

In February 2024, Dr. Amir Elhassan, a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist from California, traveled to Port Sudan, Sudan, bringing with him life-saving anesthesia-related medication and medical supplies. Dr. Amir also trained the local anesthetist in Port Sudan on various anesthesiology topics.

Critical Care Mission

In August 2024, Dr. Yasir Hamad, a critical care physician in the United States, critical medications and medical supplies to Port Sudan.
