As salaamu alaikum,

This is a personal emergency relief campaign. Right now, seven families—seven mothers and their 19 children—are in critical danger of losing shelter and safety. These families have fled domestic violence and are barely hanging on. Muslimahs Against Abuse Center (MAAC) is stepping in to triage this crisis, but we have exhausted all emergency funds.

Due to the sensitive and high-risk nature of these cases, we must protect the identities of the families involved. But we can tell you this: without immediate help, these families may be forced back onto the streets. Some are in hotels or short-term leases, but this housing is temporary and unsustainable without your support.

These are not just numbers. Behind every number is a mother who chose safety over silence. Behind every number is a child who deserves stability, warmth, and dignity.

Here’s what we’re facing:

One mother of five lost her son in a fire set by her abuser. She is grieving and desperate to keep her surviving children safe.

Another mother of five is living in her car after fleeing years of abuse.

One mother of seven faces $35,000 in legal fees after escaping a violent marriage and is now on the verge of homelessness.

A mother of five is battling medical debt, foreclosure, and job loss after years of physical abuse.

A mother of two, after a debilitating car accident, now has no access to school, work, or community resources—and no family here to help.

And these are just a few of the seven urgent cases. All seven families need support now.

This campaign is specifically aimed at raising emergency relief funds to stabilize and sustain these 7 families—and ensure their safety. Anything raised beyond this goal will go directly to the growing list of women and families who have reached out to MAAC for help, but whom we currently don’t have the resources to support.

In 2024 alone, MAAC provided over $112,000 in emergency housing, rental assistance, and relocation costs. We helped over 500 families with essential needs like diapers. But recent policy changes and executive orders have halted some of our most critical partnerships, cutting off our access to diapers and family necessities—just when demand is highest.

Still, we will not turn our backs on those in crisis. And with your support, we won’t have to.
