Tafida Raqeeb is a little girl who suffered from a blood vessel rupture in 2019. If you have not heard about her, you can read her story on her Facebook page called ‘Save Tafida’. Her parents won a landmark victory against a hospital in London who wanted to withdraw her life support and allow her to die. Read more here.
Tafida was taken to Italy in October 2019 to continue her treatment. Despite the doctors saying she will not live past a few months, Tafida continues to prove them all wrong by fighting and getting stronger each day. However, she still has a long way to go and her journey to recovery will take time.

The burden of the cost of her treatment is on the family’s shoulders and they need to urgently collect at least £100,000 to continue her general treatment. If more than this amount is raised, Tafida can have advanced treatment, such as laser therapy and hyperbaric therapy as this will aid her recovery immensely. Many kind hearted and generous people donated generously to this cause before and we are once again reaching out to you.
Please support whatever you can and help this beautiful little girl, who was once a healthy happy child, get the treatment she so desperately needs. Please help the family to collect the much needed funds.
We will be sharing updates here as and when we can on her progress and improvements.
Our five-year-old daughter, Tafida, is a kind, bubbly and beautiful little girl, who has been in hospital since February following a sudden and traumatic brain injury. At the time she showed gradual but very encouraging signs of recovery. A team in the Royal London Hospital, where she was being treated, had decided, however, that it would be in her “best interests” that her life is ended. We, her parents, strongly disagreed.
We believed Tafida should be given the chance of life, and the opportunity to recover, and the Gaslini Children’s Hospital in Genoa, Italy, shared our opinion. Doctors, there were willing to treat Tafida but the Royal London Hospital was trying to stop us.
Tafida Raqeeb is a previously healthy 5-year-old child who suffered from a traumatic brain injury in February 2019. She had a ruptured blood vessel (arteriovenous malformation) in her brain and had been on the life support machine at Royal London Hospital (RLH).
6 months later, Tafida had begun to show some signs of progress, such as reacting to pain, movement of limbs and opening and closing of eyes.
Initially, we were informed that Tafida will have a tracheostomy, which meant that she can come off the ventilator. We were even told that she may be able to go home after a few months and her recovery could continue at home. However, the medical team then changed their mind and decided to withdraw ventilation to end her life.
