What are we doing?

This Ramadan I'm collecting donations to support the first Muslim-operated Women's Domestic Violence Shelter in the Carolinas!

What's the purpose of this initiative?

The purpose of this initiative is to raise funds to build the first ever Muslim-operated Women's Domestic Violence Shelter in the Carolinas. 

We have hired staff to help run the shelter and make sure that the daily operations, such as security and the shelter utilities, are covered and running smoothly. The Shelter can house up to 10 women who will be provided with: 

​1. Food

2. Room & Board

3. Career Training 

4. Psychiatric Care and Counseling Services 

5. Legal Consultation to file petitions against abusers

6. Childcare resources such as childcare services, playpens, and more 

Saidah is in charge of the domestic shelter and is extremely integral to keeping the shelter operating smoothly

Where will my donation go?

Each donation goes directly towards helping up-keep the Domestic Violence Shelter. As with running any facility, the shelter has operational costs that are needed to essentially "keep the lights on". 

Which organization is leading this initiative?

Penny Appeal USA is a nonprofit development organization working to alleviate poverty through sustainable programs. Our mission is to bring about an equitable world by tackling the root causes of poverty, while bridging the gap between funders and poor communities in order to work together on long-term solutions that can help end intergenerational poverty.

Since 2016, we have provided support, tools, and services to over 50,000 children, refugees, displaced communities, and families in need both domestically and internationally.
