Islamic Relief is deeply committed to supporting orphans in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where ongoing conflicts have left many children without parents or guardians. Through the Orphan Sponsorship Programme, Islamic Relief provides essential assistance to these vulnerable children, ensuring they have access to basic necessities such as food, healthcare, education, and shelter.

In response to the escalating crisis in Gaza, Islamic Relief has significantly expanded its efforts. Prior to October 2023, the organization supported approximately 8,750 orphans in Gaza. Recognizing the increasing need, Islamic Relief scaled up the Orphan Sponsorship Programme to support nearly 7,000 additional orphaned children.

The organization also addresses the psychological well-being of these children. Many orphans have experienced profound trauma due to the loss of their parents and the ongoing violence in the region. Islamic Relief provides psychosocial support to help them cope with their experiences and build resilience.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this," and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.'

(Sahih al-Bukhari, 5304)
