This is what Palestine has experienced under occupation, which has recently escalated to catastrophic levels causing even more death, injury and displacement, as well as unfairly treated families suffering a humanitarian crisis. Health and Medical Care: URGENT MEDICAL SUPPORT SERVICES

In Palestine, the Ministry of Health is still facing the dire consequences of the protracted emergency since the blockade started over 15 years ago. The relentless violence and conflict which has been imposed on Gaza since 7th October 2023 has caused unimaginable death and countless injuries. The health sector is devastated and requires support to manage the situation. AFH aims to procure and distribute medical supplies and disposables that are urgently needed by the Ministry of Health to enable provision of essential health services for the vulnerable population in both West Bank and Gaza.

W.A.S.H: SOLAR-POWERED WATER WELL

Access to clean water is a major concern in Palestine, the population relies on a heavily polluted and over-exploited coastal aquifer. The lack of infrastructure, due to the Israeli blockade and military operations, makes it difficult to treat and distribute clean water. Many Palestinians rely on water supplies which require electricity supply to pump the water out of the ground. The frequent power cuts pose a risk to the availability of water. AFH aims to ensure a constant supply of water through equipping a water well with a photovoltaic solar system and a small RO desalination plant. This project can provide over 15,000 people in the local community with uninterrupted access to clean, safe drinking water.

To build a solar powered water well, it costs £20,000, this will provide a sustainable water supply for over 15,000 people.

Food Security & Livelihoods: REHABILITATION OF FARMING LANDS

In 2022, 13% of the national Palestinian workforce work in the agricultural sector. This is declining due to high poverty rates among farmers and restrictions of Palestinian farming lands. AFH aims to support farmers, herders and agricultural workers in Palestine to decrease the unemployment rates and increase resilience, through this support programme. 
Activities could include: Rehabilitating farming lands: Enabling struggling farmers to secure a source of income for their families and become self-reliant. Rehabilitating greenhouses: Every farmer will receive support to rehabilitate 2000m2 of their greenhouses which can enable production of between 12-15 tonnes per year of different types of vegetables such as tomato, cucumber, pepper, sweet pepper and aubergines.

£3,500 could transform the livelihood of a farmer and their family through greenhouse rehabilitation.

£2,000 could rehabilitate one family farm.
