We are launching Sawti – the world’s first Islamic audiobook app.

We truly believe that the future of knowledge is audio. We also feel that as Muslims, we must embrace the change and align our Islamic tradition with modern technology.

Picture the Grand Library of Baghdad or Great Library of Alexandria – global hubs of knowledge. We want to create a centralised platform for all Islamic audiobooks. Instead of binging on social media, we can then fill our daily commutes, chores, and family time with Islamic knowledge of all levels. 

We also want to expand into children's books, as well as a variety of levels, topics, and specialisms, but we need your support.

About the app

“Kitab Sawti” means “audiobook”, but Sawti also means “my voice”. In a world of censorship and global agendas, we firmly believe that Islamic knowledge should not be restricted or supressed. The only way to achieve this freedom is to create our own platforms – hence Sawti.

We have built a beta demo app, but we need your support to build a fully-fledged mobile app with bespoke features. We want to honour our sacred tradition, so the app should be as high-quality as the knowledge it is hosting.

Where will your money go?

The goal is to create a global hub for every single Islamic audiobook. In order to do this, our funds will be spent in two ways:

1. Building the app. This means hiring developers, programmers, designers, and so on.
2. Recording professional audiobooks. This means hiring more narrators and sound engineers to create the highest quality production.

About the team

• Dr Salah Sharief is our CEO. He is a student of knowledge and an entrepreneur. His previous ventures include Wordsmiths, a company that specialises in translating and editing Islamic books. He was also involved in adapting Dr Yasir Qadhi’s sīrah into a ground-breaking book.

• Dr Yasir Qadhi is our co-founder and Global Brand Ambassador. His sīrah – narrated in his own voice – will be exclusive to the Sawti app. Dr Yasir is committed to establishing Sawti as the world’s go-to platform for Islamic audiobooks.

• Ryan Alleyne is our COO. Ryan’s expertise in operations provides the professional systems required to undertake a task of this magnitude.

• Hamza Mahmud is our CTO. The brains behind the code, Hamza is our tech-geek powerhouse who will – with Allah’s permission – make it all happen. As an Imam and ḥāfiẓ of the Qur’an, Hamza is best positioned to blend the worlds of programming and sacred knowledge.

• Sadiq Zaman is our Audiobook Production Manager. Also a ḥāfiẓ of the Qur’an, Sadiq’s passion for knowledge is utilised in leading a team of bilingual narrators to create professional Islamic audiobooks.

Timeline

App development is notoriously difficult to determine. However, with your support, we are aiming to launch a fully-functioning app in 2024.
