Support SJSU MSA

For years, the Muslim Student Association at San Jose State University has served hundreds of students. From hosting events to advocating for Muslim rights on-campus, the MSA serves as an indispensable resource for the university's Muslims who, according to previous estimates, make up about 8% of SJSU's students.

This Ramadan, we're seeking to raise funds for sponsoring iftaars and related activities.

Speaker Series

The MSA has hosted various lectures on Islamic topics, inviting many of our respected scholars and teachers. Among these topics are the legacy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the relationship between deen and dunya, and getting ready for Ramadan.

Weekly On-Campus Jumu'as

SJSU MSA hosts an on-campus Jumu'a weekly for students who live on campus and commuters who have Friday classes.

Dawah

Our annual Islam Awareness Week provides SJSU students with free resources to learn about Islam, including copies of the Quran, books on current issues, and pamphlets on a variety of topics. This year, we are hosting a community iftar, open to all members of the SJSU community to come learn from one of respected scholars and to participate in an open Q&A session.

Justice & Relief Work

Last year, we've also worked to raise awareness about the hardships Muslims face across the globe. In November, we co-hosted a week-long exhibition and guest speaker session on apartheid in Palestine. In February, we held a relief bake sale to raise funds for the victims of the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria. We also held an event on the life and legacy of Malcolm X for Black History Month.

Collaborations

In the 2022-2023, we've collaborated with over 15 local MSAs, on-campus groups, and nearby religious organizations, such as WhyIslam, Tawasaw, and the Zakat Foundation of North America. We've worked with them to host a variety of events, including bake sales, charity work, Islamic workshops, and social outings.
