Help the UM MSA fund a service learning trip to an organization dedicated to financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work-readiness for students

Junior Achievement: Building Futures

The Muslim Students’ Association at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor strives to serve God by serving the community in all elements of life through religious enrichment, social connections, community service, social justice  and interfaith relations. This year, we are fortunate for the opportunity to collaborate with Junior Achievement through Alternative Spring Break and volunteer our time to help children learn about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work-readiness. Junior Achievement is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. Their purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

Help Empower Children

"The best of people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind." - Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

Now more than ever, we as Muslim-Americans should strive to honor the values of community service and leadership that our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) embodied. With your help, we can invest our time and effort into giving back to the community and making an impact on younger generations.

Your contributions will allow us to fund our trip to Louisville, Kentucky and spend our spring break volunteering with Junior Achievement. During that time, we will be helping young students with classroom programs in financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and work readiness.

Junior Achievement USA is in more than 200,000 classrooms and afterschool programs, and they are located in all 50 states. They create pathways for employment and job creation, and they serve over 4 million students in America. Through their programs, they empower volunteers to help create and present lesson plans based on financial literacy and work-readiness.

Testimonials:

“MSA's ASB trip was a transformative experience for me. Our week volunteering at a camp for children with disabilities was incredibly fulfilling, and faith based reflections made the experience that much more meaningful. Not only did I walk away with a new perspective on community service and engagement, but I also formed friendships with 13 stellar people.”  Hiba Asad, 2017 ASB trip to Burton, Texas

"ASB opened up many doors for me, by understanding the needs of those in different parts of the country. I feel like I learned more about myself and what kind of volunteer work I like to do based off ASB. It also helped me to become close friends with a group of people who shared similar interests with me -- ASB bought me closer to people I wouldn't have met otherwise!" Mohammed Kibria, 2017 ASB trip to Burton, Texas

"ASB was an awesome experience. One thing that stands out was getting to stay at a church and meeting the nicest people; they made us granola bars and dinners, invited us to their church service. Our group had a great time and really made lasting meaningful relationships based on compassion and service. Definitely one of the highlights of my sophomore year!" - Nour Soubani, 2013 ASB trip to Roanoke, Virginia
