My name is Ameera Hammouda, and I am the founder of AMEERA, a lifestyle brand for young women to shop the wardrobe they need to succeed. 

As a young Muslim woman, it is difficult to shop. Myself and my mom still can never find clothing that meets our Islamic dress code without compromising our sense of style.

Upon graduating from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business where I designed clothing for the Fashion and Retail Association, I decided to develop a brand that will change the stigma of Muslim women being oppressed and empower women through their wardrobes.

Why Muslim Women Hate Shopping:

I surveyed 300 women. 89% of these Women said they struggle to find everyday wardrobe pieces. We had the shared experience of frustrating shopping, low self-esteem due to “unflattering” and “frumpy” looking modest options and even shopping from the men’s sections to find loose fitting clothing. Nothing on the market is designed with young Muslim women in mind, so there is always a slit, short hem, a scooped neckline, sheer fabric, a cut out, etc. that requires countless loads of unnecessary layering or unflattering sizing up.
