Building Muslim community through giving 

Objective: 

We aim to provide a comfortable and spacious prayer hall for the Muslim community in Seoul, Korea. 

ALHAMDULILLAH! 

MyFundAction and the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the individuals and groups who supported us in building the annex building early this year. None of these would be possible without all of your hard work, commitment, and the will of Allah (SWT). 

We are now working on the construction of a praying hall on the first floor of the mosque. Converting an old library and office to a Masjid will take a significant amount of time and effort; we ask for your assistance in reaching this goal. 

Serving thousands of worshippers

Muslims in Korea have doubled over the past decade and now reached 200,000 people. Nearly 3000 people convert to Islam every year in Seoul Central Mosque. Yet, the praying space is least to accommodate more than 600 people at one time. 

During the last time, they say their prayers in a makeshift prayer hall located in the downtown area of Seoul. Around three thousand Muslims were living in Korea at that time.

Seoul Central Mosque has become a focal point for the Muslim community among Koreans and the public from different backgrounds and ethnicities. It best serves as a functional hub for religious practices, also a center of information, education, and socializing. 

The space inside this building is limited and can only fit 600 people praying at a time. The Muslim community would have to endure the cold winter and the intense summer heat to pray outdoor, especially during weekly prayers Jumu'ah, where most Muslims in Seoul would go over there. 

Currently, the Muslim sisters do not have a proper space to pray in the masjid. Due to COVID-19 regulations, their praying area relocates to an Islamic book cafe on the third floor. It was hard to get to and very cramped to fit more people. At the same time, the women's ablution and toilet are situated outside the mosque.

As a result, constructing a new prayer hall is ongoing to ensure Muslims can pray in comfort and security. And now we invite you to be part of the history to expand the new prayer space on the first floor of this mosque for the ever-growing Muslims here. We look forward to completing this project with Allah's help and your generous contribution.

The History

The Seoul Central Mosque established in 1976 to be a place to worship for Muslims in Korea as well as to educate the larger public about Islam and Islamic cultures. The first floor of the mosque houses the Korea Muslim Federation office and a meeting room. On the second floor is the men's musalla (prayer hall), and on the third floor is the women's musalla. The mosque is open to worshippers and visitors.
