On the 23rd of January 2025, we lost an amazing member of staff and friend within the Council’s Legal Services.

Throughout her successful career as a lawyer, Asifa has dedicated over 18 years to ensuring the safety of our residents. Amongst her notable work, she has successfully led on landmark cases including setting legal precedence.

Asifa Ahmad Butt was truly an outstanding person, friendly and warm to everyone. She left behind a young family consisting of her husband and 3 children. We are all devastated as to her sudden departure.

In commemoration of Asifa’s life, we have decided to fundraise for a water well project in a remote village in Ghana, where clean water is not easily accessible. The water well will be placed in her honour along with a plaque in her remembrance; offering ongoing legacy. We will be fundraising via registered charity, House of Giving (1205629), who will seek to deliver the project in Ghana. On completion of the project, we will share pictures of the water well with all contributors and Asifa’s family.

The fund-raising target to deliver the water well project is £1,100 and any additional funds will be used to deliver food and essential packages to the poor and needy around the world. Please click on the link below to donate whatever you can.
