I'm talking part in the Al-Noor Boat race and raising funds for Masjid Ansar IEC

I'm taking part in the Al Noor Boat Race 2023 to raise funds for Al-Ansar IEC.

About Al-Ansar IEC

Al-Ansar IEC is more than a place to pray, it is a holistic offering of community services and support ensuring no one in our community is left forgotten. From our five daily prayers and foodbank, our dedicated Hifdh class creating the next generation of leaders, we actively seek to make a positive difference in people's lives. In the 22 years since the site was purchased, there has been much work undertaken impacting local lives:

  • New building with a family friendly prayer space and increased capacity
  • Madrassah providing basic education to 250+ students each week
  • Counselling service
  • Providing essential food packs and hot meals to families in need through our foodbank and community kitchen
  • Regular islamic courses and events
  • Dedicated women's facilities
  • Eid prayers in the open
  • Youth services for both boys and girls
  • Sports classes for men, women and children
  • Afternoon tea events
  • Hire facilities for tuition events, home school classes, private events and Scouts

A substantial part of the costs to establish the centre came through Qardh Hasan (interest free loans) during the COVID pandemic. Our debt currently stands at £300,000. We urgently want to repay this debt to focus on more resources towards our work and allow for more financial freedom to develop our services. There are still several finishing works scheduled that will continue straight after Ramadan 2022 together with purchasing new furniture to complement the multi-purpose use of the masjid.

The Prophet (SAW) stated, “Whoever builds a Masjid for the pleasure of Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) build for them a House in Paradise” - Tirmidhi

The Annual Boat Race with the Al-Noor Foundation

The Annual Boat Race is an event which has been established by the Al-Noor Foundation in the Summer of 2018, at Fairlop Waters in the London Borough of Redbridge. The next event takes place this year on the 8th July 2023

The event is open to all schools, faith groups, charities and corporate organisations. The event aims to unite the community whereby individuals, families and organisations have the opportunity to raise money for charitable causes which are close to their hearts, by simply registering for a boat and participating in the race.

Boat races are part of the great heritage of British culture and an amazing way to unite both competitors and communities together behind a common cause. Dragon Boat racing is something which is growing in popularity in the UK, originating from Southern China’s Guangdong Province.

The boats we will be using can accommodate up to 17 riders at a time and will be provided by a specialist Dragon Boat company which the Foundation has partnered up with to run the event.
