Islamic Relief is calling for urgent support for its emergency response to the deepening crisis.

An ongoing conflict...

The ongoing conflict in Yemen started in March 2015 with the situation deteriorating in recent months. According to the World Health Organisation, 6,774 people have died between March 2015-August 2016.

An estimated 21.2 Million people (82% of the total population) are in need of humanitarian assistance of which 12.4 million people are unable to meet their food needs.

7.6 million are severely food insecure - 3 million of these people are malnourished including children under the age of 5

19.4 million are without clean water and accommodation

14.1 million are without adequate healthcare

3 million are internally displaced or have fled to neigbhouring countries due to the conflict

33,399 people have been injured between March 2015-August 2016

Displacement has increased five-fold over the period of just one year.

Islamic Relief's Response

Islamic Relief is currently the largest NGO operating within Yemen. We have responded in 16 out of 22 governorates in Yemen including Sana'a, Sana'a City, Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, Amran, Mared, Sa'ada, Hodeida, Hadramaut, Dhamar, Ibb, Raymah, Shabwa, and Al-Gaw.

As a humanitarian aid organisation, our first priority is getting help to those who need it - but the longer the fighting continues, the more difficult this will become. Sadly the ongoing conflict continues to put civilians at risk, even though they should be protected by international law. Islamic Relief has provided medicine and medical aid to hospitals throughout Yemen as well as other food and non-food items such as clothing and mattresses to Orphan families.

How You Can Help

Due to the severity of the situation in recent months, and with the increase in malnutrition and the real threat of starvation, Islamic Relief have identified an immediate need for food assistance. £62 can provide a vulnerable family displaced by the conflict with a food pack to last one month.
