Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 450, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 533)

The Muslim community of Yellowknife is a humble group of 600 Muslims in a small area, and continues to grow at a steady rate! Unfortunately, they do not have a Masjid to house their thriving community. Currently, there is no central location for them to gather for prayers, community events, or educational activities. 

ISNA Canada wants to answer the call of Sadaqa Jariya, and help the brothers and sisters build a Masjid. Building a Masjid will not only benefit the Muslim community, but will also contribute to the diversity and richness of Yellowknife's cultural landscape. The Masjid will provide a safe and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds to come together, learn from each other, and build a stronger, more connected community of Muslims.

Your support will help ISNA create a space where Muslims can come together, pray, learn, and grow, while also promoting understanding and unity across different cultures in Islam. Take a moment to imagine your closest and favorite Masjid to to attend prayers in. Reflect on the sense of community, love, and spiritual connection you feel with Allah. 

Now imagine what it would be like to not have a Masjid in your area. No roof over your head as you try to pray Salat in the harshness of the weather. Imagine on having no sense of community, a place to belong to as a Muslim in a spiraling world. This is the reality our Brothers and Sisters are facing in Yellowknife.
