We need your help to empower refugee youth to build successful lives in their new homes and change the ways their local communities view refugees. 

Last year, you helped us raise $10,000 on LaunchGood for our Refugee Youth Program. Thanks to your generosity, refugee youth gained important skills and built strong connections with peers and mentors. 

In working closely with refugee youth, we discovered a grim reality: most of them face racism and discrimination at school, which makes it difficult to fit in and integrate. 

This year, with your help, we will widen the scope of impact.

Not only will we train youth in life skills, we will also empower them with the skills and tools they need to change how their communities perceive refugees. 

Refugee youth will produce educational material including a photobook and video on their experiences with racism and discrimination and will present their stories and ideas to schools in their communities. 

We promise four program deliverables:

• ​20 refugee youth trained in leadership and presentation skills
• 20 anti-racism presentations developed and delivered by youth in their local communities
• Photobooks complied by youth about their struggles with stereotypes, dual identities and sense of belonging
• Video produced by youth describing their experiences with racism and community-based solutions

Who is the Syrian Canadian Foundation?

The Syrian Canadian Foundation aims to empower newcomers and people of diverse backgrounds while promoting cross-cultural exchanges within Canadian society. SCF has served the needs of refugees and vulnerable youth for over six years. Many of the refugee youth that come to our programs have fled from war zones but today continue to face obstacles such as: poverty, social isolation, residing in ghettoized neighbourhoods, bullying, and discrimination.
