This campaign has concluded, and unfortunately, we were unable to raise sufficient funds to purchase the identified property. The total amount raised, £19,971, is securely ring-fenced and designated exclusively for projects in the Shirley area. These funds will be utilized solely for the acquisition or lease of a property to establish a new mosque in Shirley, whichever option becomes viable first.

Any registered charity or community group initiating a project to establish a mosque in Shirley may formally request access to this collection. Should your organization successfully secure a site (through lease or purchase), we encourage you to contact us to discuss potential collaboration.

Conversely, if our team identifies a suitable property first, we kindly seek your support in advancing this effort. Please note that as of now, no suitable property has been identified.

Southampton is a beautiful city with a quarter-million of wonderful people, with 10% Muslims. 

The eastern half of Southampton has 11 mosques (Masha Allah, soon to be 13 in 2025). The Muslim community on the western side of Southampton desperately needs a mosque and community centre to serve the whole community.

A church building became available (257-259 Shirley Road - see it here), and it is asking for £1,000,000.

Taqwah Mosque Trust (a charity reg. no. 1154764) was established in April 2012 and is trying to fundraise a total of £1,000,000 (£1 million).

Please note that if we could not acquire this particular building, we will use all received donations to buy a similar Masjid in the same area in Shirley within the red box on the left side.

Additional notes:

Additionally, we may need a further £200,000 or more for 2 reasons: 

(1) To overbid any competitors who may try to take it. The deadline for submitting our final request is midday 1st of November 2021. The sudden jump may be required at short notice, hence we need £1.2m or even £1.5m to secure the property.

(2) If managed to get the property at a lower price (expecting a minimum of £1m) then any spare funding raised will be used for the repair and for getting the place ready insha Allah.
