The challenges Muslim women face in Canada and the rest of North America have grown more complex, especially in these unprecedented times. We at Nisa Helpline have witnessed increased calls from vulnerable women expressing mental health concerns, domestic abuse, relationship strains, Islamophobia and financial hardships amongst other challenges and struggles. 

We've all struggled in some way during this period of uncertainty and confusion and the women in our society have carried the weight of it in isolation. Two years on, the Covid-19 pandemic has permanently changed the world, negatively impacted many people’s mental health and created new barriers for those already suffering from mental health illnesses. 

This Ramadan, Nisa Helpline encourages you to recognize our collective responsibility to ensure our sisters' cries for help are heard and their hardships are alleviated. To achieve this vision, Nisa Helpline aims to address the present challenges, reduce barriers to access and provide critical support with resources at a greater scale and with a broader reach to deliver services efficiently in our community.

For over eight years, Nisa Helpline has been a free, confidential, and anonymous peer-to-peer counselling service that offers mental, emotional, and faith-based support, information and referrals to women who simply want to be heard and guided. 

Nisa Helpline is a registered Canadian charity that offers peer-to-peer counselling, support in creating action plans, referrals, emotional and spiritual support and encouragement to women.
