Just like Jason, a surprising number of prisoners convert to Islam while in prison. With the US prison population surpassing 2 million, it is estimated that around 200,000 incarcerated individuals are currently Muslim, and this number continues to rise.

At Tayba, we have been fortunate to hear numerous incredible conversion stories from our fellow brothers and sisters inside prison, some of which are truly extraordinary. However, it must be emphasized that the majority of these brothers and sisters require assistance in acquiring the fundamental knowledge of their deen, a task that cannot be accomplished without your invaluable support.

The Tayba Foundation has been a guiding light to over 12,000 incarcerated individuals for more than 15 years. We have developed a unique custom Islamic curriculum tailored to their specific needs. In our early days, even before our incorporation in 2008, we would send photocopied material of traditional texts and other online translations. However, we have since put in a lot of effort and hard work to create a well-conceived in-house curriculum that comprehensively covers various aspects of our religion.

Many Tayba students go on to become teachers, community leaders, and responsible members of their families. The education they receive, while incarcerated, refines their character and reshapes their priorities. With the guidance of Tayba's coaches and support from the Muslim community, these individuals can successfully reintegrate into society, after release, and make valuable contributions to both the Muslim and non-Muslim communities.

Sadaqa Jariya - An ongoing charity
